+end jan. cny next.+

the first month of 2008 is almost over. just like the rest of the end of the month, its the happiest times when we receive our paychecks. well i received mine last week. spent a little on the usual daily necessities, distributed a little, and the rest goes into what we called "the emergency funds". i must confess i haven been feeding my piggy very well. he's always telling me he's hungry. i guess i might really need a change of jobs to feed his hunger. LOL.

the past weekend was boring and saddening as well. first the gang didnt meet up as usual cause of school reports and exams. i miss orchard. i have not seen ion orchard yet! and the shops, the sales, the parts of town we used to throng, updates on clothes, shoes. hopefully february wouldnt be such a boring month. with CNY around the corner, im sure the extra red packets would definitely put smiles to many faces.

secondly, went for auditions on sunday at the shot to making myself a cabin crew with the prestigious singapore airlines. got rejected. LOL. well i made friends, and had some really good experience. i was quite dejected, but happy at the same time. i guess they were looking for somebody with a respectable age, with relevant experience?

work was piling up. i have lab testing to do now. and planning. and managing some people in the company. they should really pay me more. seriously.

Wednesday, January 23

+jobsdb, blueberry pies+

its midweek wednesday, so i thought an update would be apt. went to jobsdb open house at suntec on sunday. pretty boring cause the booths were spread out so sparingly in that large piece of land. not much "industries" to pick from, there wasnt ANY that caught my eye at all. most of them came from the finance sector, while others like police force also came to haul ppl over.

work is boring as usual. with the normal drag to work, the same old things i need to see to, i'm seriously thinking how many poly grads actually have to go through what im doing. its more like a degree holder's job. and they are paying me peanuts. yeap, crafty. roy's been telling me the positons are open over at his side, that would be quite attractive for me, with the amount of cash that would draw me into the lucrative jurong island, i would consider. but i would think a job over at the east seemed more feasible to me now. the lack of sleep just turns me off sometimes, even with the amount of freedom i get during work. its the stress once a month during meetings that gets me going on in work. ahh crap. i think i should be able to end this misery by march.

caught my blueberry nights last night, the first 'artsy fatsy' movie of the year. i was quite enthralled by the stunning performances by norah jones, while the presence of jude law, rachel wiesz and natalie portman just made the show even better. i was particularly attracted at how norah jones played her character, she was plain yet attractive, simple yet showing alot of promise on her role. natalie, too, was very versatile. i remember her as the girl getting involved in politics in v for vendetta, and queen amidala in star wars. look how much she's grown. bottom line: great cast, good movie.

+27 freaking dresses!+

its been a long time since i caught a movie. the last one was "i am legend" i guess. this month's first movie is "27 dresses". katherine heigl in her stunning performance after "gray's anatomy". i've never seen a girl change so many dresses in one movie. i think this one rocks my socks. it reminded me a lot about shows i've caught in the past which featured love, weddings, stuff along that line to do with the thing called romance, the aspect which i definitely do not score well in.

i still have so many movies i called "artsy fatsy movies" which i have not watched. the next one coming up would be "atonement" and "my blueberry nights". of course there are other older movies which i have not watched, like "national treasure". okay enough of rants.

+of hypocrites and backstabbers+

i have already embarked on the journey around the carousel, running and scurrying round and round. this route is definitely neither peaceful nor happy like the old schooling days.

well there are bad apples everywhere, but there are more spoilt ones in the industry. in school, people try to keep information from you, but you cant get them from books, lecturers around you. in the industry, somebody tries to hide information from you, while you have to use months and years to dig information from these pairs of golden lips. cant stand it. and they go tell everybody they already taught you everything, while they spent all their time doing their "stuff", making them look busy.

some others go around badmouthing about everybody in the company, and tries their best to get into the boss's good books. yes, its the old saying, every man for himself, to each his own. maybe i have not seen too much of life, i need to get a life. okay enough of ranting. back to reality.

+i miss the CNY traditions..+

i promised myself to dedicate more time to blogging, more updates (probably once every 3 days, so it is about 2 per week, 8 per month. so i must have at least 100 posts a year!), more collection of my days when im still enjoying so i can show my kids next time how childish i was at this happy chapers of my young adult life. show them how crappy my life has been, playing and not studying, and this should never be repeated. =/

anyway, i was wondering why the decorations i see around are all about mickey and minnie mouse, and i realised we are celebrating the new year of the rat! rats are mice, and definitely mickey and minnie fits the theme this year. are we going to see ben and jerry's cow next year, and tigger the year after next? that is going to be so cute lah. anyway, nobody's really bothered in designing new CNY decorations because times have changed and most of the younger generation are not really into the traditional celebrations. the mickey and minnie designs are the same everywhere i go!

well i gotta admit sometimes these decorations put you in the mood for the festive season, though work and other stuff might affect that mood from kicking in. time to put on a fresh coat of paint around this time, redecorate your room design, new sheets to be bought, and floors to be made to shine! visiting the folks once a year, asking how's school, work, well wishes like, good luck, must study hard, have a great year ahead will be shared amongst all. this has become a tradition, rather a habit. i love the food during CNY, more than the red packets, and the meeting of old folks. i love gambling, the thrill of mahjong, dai dee, blackjack, and visiting of school teachers (which i have not done since entering polytechinic).

im tired. yawns.

Wednesday, January 9

+january test.+

for the week that has gone by, i have been spending the mornings before official office hours inside my boss office. it seems that he loves to give me the day's agenda, and set targets for me. stress is kicking in. i got a presentation to be done by next week, and certain stuff has to be collected to be presented.

january is such a long month to endure. four more weeks to CNY, and i cant wait. at least i get a long break from work, which i need. i need to start moving ahead full-steam, while everybody is busy scurrying for their lives in the company. there are so many deadlines to be met, and january is the stepping stone to the rest of the year. if i survive january, probably the rest of the year will be smooth-sailing.

read the newspaper today. saw the article on fellow friend, marcus aka aloy in p c k going to DB. haiz, SMTI officers again. i got problems with them myself. got into so much trouble in army the only thing i was not involved in was DB. brother, guess we are all unlucky. dont know the details so i shall not say too much.

+one more month!+

im so bogged down with work lately, i do not have time for books, japanese dramas, or my blog. all my creative juices have gone to my work, and i certainly do not like it at all. i have recently got more responsibilities in the company, which i do not like. i have to play villain to the workers, and angel to the boss. is that the kind of stress i have to put up with?

blogging does not seem fun anymore. like many of the blogs i have grown up reading to, have toned down from the noisy, childish kids to the think-before-you-act-or-say, mature and serious adults. is this part of evolution of a human being? or do they call it metamorphosis from child to adult?

anyway, one more month to CNY, and the decorations are already up around the company, and the mood is definitely kicking in. the workers love taking long breaks during this period, that means we got more work to cover by this week, cause there will be more orders coming this CNY. after that, might have a little rest time, then comes march where the big project arrives. cant say too much because boss says everything is still "tentative".

+first post.+

a week of 2008 has zoomed past so quickly. how has it been for all of you? changes taking place around you? new environment, new friends? its all the same for me. the workload probably doubled, but the pay's still stagnant. i really wan a change of environment and that should be the top priority this year.

everything is practically the same, just the the calander is reads january 2008 now. no more 2007. im so happy im not wearing green anymore. i can wear whatever i want now. new targets to be met. new goals to be made. im sure my boss knows what to give me in the next few months.

went singing yesterday. first one in a long time. definitely the first thing this year. this year i have planned to sing more, and club less. maybe its going to be something like a monthly indulge that we can all enjoy.
