full-time national service comes to an end, i got my childish photo pink id, my hair, and my freedom back. it wasnt quite a bad year if you compared to other years, but this year, i managed to gain more friends, trust, and hopefully less enemies. my platoon of mates i stuck with for 18 months have come and gone, they are one of the best friends i've seen for the past twenty over years. working together with guys with a common goal in mind is definitely one that is satisfying and sweet.
i embarked on my journey in the workforce from september this year. i wouldnt call it a rat race yet, but looking at things, i might be slogging my life out for peanuts. time for a bigger wheel to run, where they pay cashew nuts rather than peanuts? im still waiting for things to happen, which i do not think that would happen as quickly as i expect it to be.
new year resolutions are still in the planning stage, i guess they will start to blossom come midyear onwards. the first six months are still very much stepping stones for me. the few new year resolutions that come to my mind are there as always, peace and health within the family, friends, and relatives. then comes to making more money in the coming year, stay young, yet mature thinking, finding a company to feed the other side of my not-so-mature mind, and the list goes on. i have to tabulate them and write them on my wall or something.
today is also the day to tear down the old calenders, put on new ones, change my bedsheets, wardrobe, layout of my room. so many things to change! guess i'll just do the first one. the rest can wait. before i forget in case im not home, happy new year to all my readers, friends or foes, maybe 2007 end in a peaceful note, and 2008 brings lots of happiness to all.
went to chalet on friday after work which lasted all the way till saturday. it wasnt that great, compared to the ones i've been. food wasnt that great, all i had was a piece of chao tar chicken wing. it was one of the worse. played risk for one whole night and we didnt finish the game because everybody was tired.
caught the movie, i am legend, straight after that. didnt catch a wink during the chalet, and i ended up dozing off in the show. but the parts where i was awake was very nice! but in my opinion, it was quite futuristic like the rest of the will smith shows. didnt really had the "wow" factor. window shopping after that. wasnt that fun with the non-regulars, but we made the times count. met up with my parents after that. slept through the night till late today.
i still have topman and g2000 vouchers to be used by tomorrow. and im seriously pressed for time because the company does not have half day for us. probably shopping tomorrow hunting for topman and g2000 clothes. shopping anyone tomorrow night before partying anyone? =D
anyway, to my own christmas wishes. gone are the childish old wishes when i actually wished for my two front teeth because i felt and lost them when i was six (which i only got them back at the age of nine..) i shall not sound too cheesy with big miss universe wishes like "world peace" either. and here are the new wishes. firstly, i wish for a right state of mind, to continue my life. yes. it sounds a little crazy, but i do wish for crazy things in the potentially crazy year.
secondly, i wish for happiness in the family. and many hearts to all family members. there hasnt been much talk among us, maybe for me, and i hope i can improve on that aspect. this might aid my first wish, so why not? thirdly, i wish for a companion, probably somebody of the opposite gender to oppose my ideas, feed my inner side so that i would not feel so empty.
finally, i hope for the encouraging support of good friends, foes, bosses, workers, and everybody so that we live in a safe and peaceful environment with no back stabbers, self-centered people and a harmonious equilibrium. like they always say, merry christmas.
i forgot where i stopped blogging, so im going to basically update on what has happened for the past 7 days. caught two movies over the past week, warlords and good luck chuck. both shows were funny, the first one more historical features which actually made the show boring at times. with three big stars, how bad can the show get? the second show was typical of an american movie. it was so typical the show didnt actually catch my attention that much. the storyline was sweet, smart, and a little raunchy at times.
phuture on friday night. we went in early to enjoy the early bird special. which means we had extra cash for supper and cheap boose. what a nice way to enjoy ourselves. music for the first hour or so was pretty boring. almost dozed off. after that, it picked up. crowd control was not too bad. was full house that night, and they separated zouk and phuture like it used to, after a long long time. as a result, had to requeue when you needed to take a leek. thats not very cool. going back into the club meant precious time was wasted. this might be the last clubbing trip this year. partied so many times this year. i guess next year we wouldnt be so crazy anymore, with everyone working and turning one year older.
work is picking up slowly. but definitely it'll all end. im thinking of the perfect way to end it. 2 days to christmas. can you believe it? i just dont feel the spirit.
merry christmas people, in case i dun blog on that day.
went for the gathering with the folks back in the honeymoon junior college days. many of them were already in their final years of their degree, while the guys have also started to embark on their quest for a degree. maybe i should really start already. going to a school and getting one for the sake of it. like how we should live life just to die?
im feeling fcuking demoralised and crappy about work. so its affecting everything that is happening around me.
shopping spree has already began with two shirts from esprit. its going to be cool with more of christmas spirit decking along orchard road. sales will pick up like it always do during this festive season. the whole region is going to come down to one street and shop. that is going to be quite a turn-off. that means i gotta skip going down town for the public holdays. btw, the weather's the greatest turn-off this december.
i miss out on zoukout like the rest of the years has gone by. it wasnt really an event to be missed, but i'll look forward to seeing so many DJs and party goers from all around the region flocking here just for one night. the crowd must have been great, cant imagine 20,000 people stuck on one beach, how crazy is that? must have been a hard time trying to get in and out. i hate queues. friends of mine should know how i loath them.
we caught another movie yesterday. that makes it 5 movies in 11 days! i wonder how this feat is going to last. anyway, the latest member of this feat was the golden compass, starring nicole kidman, danial craig and eva green. its lord of the rings meet chronicles of narnia i feel. not that bad, but the my friends seem not to like it so much. the second installment should be in a year or two? lets see how things go. i might not be able to find friends to watch it by the looks of it.
there are some outings to attend, and im not sure if its a good thing to meet the people i have not seen in a while. they probably are more successful than i am, but the memories stay with me while we were still teenagers. okay. back to work now.
hitman was kinda classical. violent with a kiss of artsy fatsy to it. this time the artistic touch came in the form of the russian cities. indulge in the culture and language, and you'll probably enjoy the show as much as going to the country itself. i think this nc16 show has more raunchy scenes than an r21 movie (the heartbreak kid) i watched earlier this week. oh well, of course an r21 show has more class, in terms of jokes and story. i would recommend you to watch this show if you really like to think. i love movies that make us think. at least it keep you at the edge of your seat.
i have not been to sunny island sentosa for quite a few months already. since my team (i did not participate) lost in a volleyball competition in july. that makes it five months i have not touched a volleyball. it is quite a long time. and i've certainly lost touch. the crowd was not too bad, but if you consider the fact that you will see more at night because its zoukout!, then that is nothing. the weather was not that great of late, and it is definitely making things difficult, especially if you are an outdoor person. checking with the meteorologist would be quite necessary, and praying would be the last thing you should be doing.
family dinner in a longest time i've remembered. cant remember when the last one was. everyone was busy so there was not much time. i never liked these family dinners. i cant say i dont like my family members, but i think family dinners should be held in more private areas, not in an open ground. though this time it was quite a serene restaurant at vivo city. dinner was at crystal jade dining. i felt the ambiance was nice, but it wasnt very surprising because there was nothing really interesting besides the nice food and clanking of porcelain spoons on bowls. i guess that would be the last one in 2007. thank god. spare me the hassle of having to keep quiet and not being able to talk at tables.
walt disney is really brillant to bring fairytale into reality. the same old prince rescues princess, with ugly old witch trying to stop him from happily ever after. of course there is an accomplice in the form of a slave to the prince, and a chipmunk, who never failed to make us laugh with its various impersonations. i call it cartoon mixed with a typical american movie set in new york. very heartwarming, nostalgic and funny at the same time.
i thought i was going to be disappointed with such a childish and dreamy title. but i was wrong lah. it is a very good show. watch it or regret it.
we caught another movie on saturday. this time it was a r21 show, the heartbreak kid. this wasnt the first r21 show i've watch. but i must say, it didnt deserve an r21 rating. okay besides one nipple, and a "fake" hairy pubic region, there wasn't anything else erotic that is worth that rating. anyway i did enjoy the show as a whole. so it was worth every single dollar of the $8 i spent.
i went to sitex 2007 at the expo on sunday. it was not that big in terms of area, and the usual stuff were on sale. i was shortlisting some notebooks for future use, and went on to purchase what i was prepared to buy, my RAM and graphics card. okay not too bad, the 512mb ram costs me $43 while the latter $62. spent quite a little, but im sure it'll serve me a long way into the new year.
lunch break is over. back to work. we're catching enchanted later. lets pray it'll be nice.
the week in the office didnt seem like a long one due to the short break at home, but it sure felt like it was more than a week has gone by. there wasnt really much to do, maybe i wasnt assigned to much projects at the moment. everyone was pretty busy and i was just chucked at one corner for this few weeks.
30 days of night was the movie we caught yesterday after what seemed to be a bad weekend last week. we didnt want to waste time on a friday night at home, and capitalised on a smaller group this week because some of the gang were busy with their other commitments elsewhere. i did enjoy the company, and the movie as a whole. because i have not caught a thriller in quite a long time and there wasn't a movie that left me on the edge of my seat for a long time.
its the start of the movie season again. blockbusters would be released this month, and the next.
