The more you see the less you know
The less you find out as you go
I knew much more then than I do now
Neon heart day-glow eyes
A city lit by fireflies
They're advertising in the skies
For people like us
And I miss you when you're not around
I'm getting ready to leave the ground
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
Don't look before you laugh
Look ugly in a photograph
Flash bulbs purple irises
The camera can't see
I've seen you walk unafraid
I've seen you in the clothes you made
Can you see the beauty inside of me?
What happened to the beauty I had inside of me?
im falling in love with this song already. taken off the devil wears prada soundtrack, and previously released u2 album. everybody, feel rich, filthy freaking rich this month.
i experienced the singapore run. thats whats its written on the backs of the runners of this year's safra army half marathon. well, we didnt wear that tee because we want to get recognised. very big MRF letters printed at the back of the dull yet cool black tee. it was hot, definitely, because black absorbs heat. what else man? and the best thing to have happened was a slight drizzle. thank god. he was so kind to have answered our prayers today. he poured on us today. buckets after buckets. we were all wet. so was my phone. and the shirts of all the female participants. =] i cant say i didnt look. there were too many to keep myself entertained. not to mention the crappy jokes we made along the way because there were so many people on the narrow lanes.
i died at about 8km. or was it 9km. i was busy talking away with the sarge, and admiring the beautiful sunday morning view of the esplanade, the merlion and the marina landscape. so beautiful. so mesmerising. too bad to the other millions of you couldnt catch it because you were either sleeping away the sunday morning, or making yourself feel wasted on saturday night, thus the hangover. haha. i know its just me. sulking. we got our goodie bags, free starbucks from PC sir. and we were all shivering under the cold air-conditioning and cold coffee, thanks to raffles city. like one of the banners read - half marathon, full experience. this is definitely an eye opener for me, and im sure there's many more which will come ahead.
the devil wears prada was just like what i had expected. mind-engaging, intriguing, commendable, and debate-inviting. i want to read the book. =] girls watch it. it really teaches u.. stuffs.
safra army half marathon coming up in a few hours time. lets see how the platoon survives under the gruelling eyes of the other units. i think we're the only medical representatives who are foolish enough to participate. at least we got sponsered. i guess its not that bad to join in. we'll see.
clubbing songs still appealed to me after all these dormant weeks of not moving my body too much about. i need boose. and music. and dancing. somehow. sometime. fast. like the next avaliable night where i dont haf plans the next day.
i am the little kid playing in my happy world. a man from my outside world has just told me dirrty information i should not know, or at least, keep a secret from me. i feel wrathed, and at the same time, wary of the possibilities of other information disseminating. i want to shut all doors, but that would be unfair to other happy kids who would want to talk. if i continue living in my happy world, not only one man can bring me into the dark world outside.
tell me what to do, smart ones out there. hopefully that man is not looking. if not, we can all live in his polluted world of sins and tragedies.
future specialists, drivers, and the others different appointments. thou men, but they still work diligently without complain week in week out. sometimes we, the men, sulk because we dont get what our specialist friends get at the end of the month, but i think we gotta let some things go.
watched click a second time in 2 weeks. it wasnt that sad on the second attempt, but still manage to tickle a few tear buds. just like the last time i watched finding nemo twice. and many other movies. stupid, yet fun at the same time cuz you see how ur other friends react to the funny, or emotional bits of the show.
you laugh. you cry. you think. you react. you think you are stupid. you are really stupid. you make your friends happy. your friends make you very sad. you laugh at yourself. your friends think you are very very stupid. the tragedies of reality.
i think i've made the biggest mistake in my life. all these 21 years, i have been learning and going through life lessons. the theory dont make sense because you need practical lessons too. but when the real thing happens, it freaks you out, because, purely of the severity and reality of the situation. it really kills you there, instantly; leaving you, stranded. you cry, only for awhile. you think, for days. you regret, all your life.
i will never want to make another one. because some things we can never say. sometimes we need to think before we speak. be responsible. be mature. be you. im glad you are not angry anymore. hopefully the past will never be remembered. but we all know, it will never be, forgotten.
i dont want to think about those things so much, but i cant help it. these thoughts just keep flowing in so smoothly. the recent events which just happened around me, or to me, have triggered all these sudden thoughts.
its always troublesome. to start thinking. because i always end up being sad. the brain is such a wierd thing. it always thinks about the worst possible things which will happen to you, which i dont like.
oh, after much thoughts. i am so broke i think i need to start to work illegally. anybody willing to take nsf?
1. national day observance parade on aug 8. it was a long time since we sang our national anthem and recited our national pledge. cmc lead us in the solemn event. short, simple yet so sweet because we dont sing it in our polytechnic. even national day hits seemed more meaningful now that we dont hear it so oftenly.
2. 9.8km run. in preparation for 27th aug. additional 1.6km. tired knees, ankles. stronger minds. "training is good, training is good."
3. movie: click. we wanted to catch this show on monday. but no seats. early booking and managed to catch this touching comedy. got a few tears rolling inside my eye at some scenes. go catch it and have a few good laughs.
4. national day parade cover. ops will become the integral part of my national service stint. never got to watch the show inside the stadium, but compared to the many who have to watch through a square box called television i guess its better to watch outside the stadium. apaches, parachutes, chinooks, f-15s, and fireworks. not forgetting star-gazing when the night falls
5. report sick for diarrhoea. dont eat food left in the air for too long bcuz you will end up getting food poisoning. so many of us got it. and the MO rmbed my I/C no already. im so screwed.
this is my flag,
this is my future,
this is my life,
this is my family,
tese are my friends,
we are singapore,
singaporeans
happy 41st birthday singapore. standing-by on august 9th is tired, but it was all worth every sweat wasted.
this weekend is another special one, no noisy music, just soothing and pleasant tunes to relax to. its really fun, to eat a decent meal, catch a movie and chill out on a breezy saturday evening. ichiban sushi is serving their national day package to all customers till aug 9. its not only filling but also affordable, only SGD$19.80! saves you the trouble of looking through the colourful menu and trying to understand what the different japanese words meant. no sushi or udon for this one though. the only japanese delicacy they serve would probably be the three slices of sashimi. and you can definitely get into the national day mood while appreciating the singapore sling. no alcoholic contents in this one thou.
the fast and furious - tokyodrift, the third serving to the fast and furious series probably show-cased much of japan's bright night scenery, and the high cost of living there. much similar to need for speed underground, underground racing ruled the tokyo streets. posh sporty cars, with neon lights, slick designs, skimpy girls - everything depicted from the game itself. what increases the ratings of the movie? the soundtrack of course. much of the music from japanese artists itself, further showing the world what japanese can do. go catch it. for those who wants company, i wont mind a second time.
pepper lunch is a cool fast food restaurant which serves teppanyaki styled meat with a generous amount of dao gay. i love bean sprouts! it trains the busy working and schooling society how to cook your meat by putting your favourite marinating sauces and flipping them on the hot pan. maybe its the do-it-yourself idea they originated which no other fast food chains have thought of, that i see it as interesting. it also is a good time to gather and talk over at the table.
the weekend looks simple enough, but im enjoying every minute of it. i want to visit japan one day.
1. practice for display - we packed stores onto tunnels. went over to the parade sq. bring everything down. deploy. keep. deploy. do casualty management. it was tiring. but at least we got everything in order and ready for the real display.
2. display show - woke up freakin early for this one. annual event to promote our unit. chief of medical corps the GOH. showing what we can do to the world. it was a success.
3. 8.2 km run - prep run for the 27 aug army half marathon. we ran around the camp, up the hills and down the slopes, round and round the medical centre, from the initial jokes-making to the end just pure crawling back to our bunks. somehow shakened after the run for our rash decision to sign up for it. another 8km on monday.
4. POP rehearsal - to make sure everything goes well on our big day, this full rehearsal has to be practised over and over to make sure there's no screw-ups.
5. POP - waited for this day for 5 months. the whole company there to witness as 34 of us go up one by one to collect our badges from SMSO sir. our passing out parade was short but meaningful. like what our ops spec said, "this uncompromising task is not over yet." let this be the greatest lesson learnt. results of the challenge relay was announced. my team won. wtf. yes we won. its still is like a dream to me. eleventh platoon team one. champions.
