so much effort is put into the annual event to make this a joyous occasion. food sponsers, chartered buses, ns men training week in week out, uniformed groups burning weekends in school for practice. its always fun to see everyone enjoying themselves at the end of the day. the smile of their faces lets you know everything is worth it.

tomorrow's national day parade preview. hopefully nothing happens because i will be freaking tired standing by on site. i dont want to put on my suit and go save people. i just want to come back home and relax my weekend because the next week is going to be another week of deployment, and more shit comes right after. already confirmed no sarge course for us, and the others going for drivers course, life is definitely going to be more lonely when our platoon is broken up for about 3 months while all go for their different committments.
im definitely going to be so damn bored stuck outside the national stadium and you guys can definitely give me a call or something starting from afternoon when i'll be free-er to talk. and its going to be a sad weekend because i guess my club streak ends this week. it stood for a record of 11 straight weeks. so long for a record. and cheers to more records.
last friday was the school's anniversary lunch at seoul garden. it was crampy because we obviously didnt have space, and they keep ushering people in to eat. hello? its a school function and you should just close the entire place, and serve only to the army men. because i didnt have any space to seat, i was floating around, shaking hands, taking abit here, a little there. one of the least enjoyable buffet lunch to date. when the crowd finally cleared up, i had the whole table to myself. =|
watching planes all over again after more than a year was refreshing. something i always loved to do since i was a child. my dad would bring the family out to the airport, because we were staying at bedok, a stone's throw away from home. i remember running around the viewing mall with my brother, and we would count how many singapore airlines planes there were. or we would guess the company which the plane is from. it was so very fun then. the viewing mall had less people, and more spacious. maybe it was as crowded, maybe it wasnt; it didnt bothered me because i had so much fun with myself then. the day always ends at A&W, where i enjoyed my ice-cream float.
so many things have changed since then. more shops have opened on the upper levels to cater the stomachs of leaving passengers, a final meal always means more heartwarming last words and tears. that means less places to view planes, less playground for kids to roam freely. newer looks of the airport is inevitable as newer ideas are generated over the years. old shops have to make way and that is always sad to see. now there is an mrt stop there, more fast food restaurants, and space to rest your legs after a tired walk. some things never change. the uniform of the singapore airlines, the service they provide, and my favourite singapore icon, changi airport control tower. thanks b, for the company. and the talk. and everything. wahaha. dont worry im okay=]
its was a time to recollect my thoughts, think, explore the inner world and see the future from here. this time of the year, when two-thirds of the year has already past, its time to look back on the past year, make new resolutions if necessary. the break is ending, time for more training, scolding and learning to be done. enjoy the fireworks at the ndp preview this weekend. i should be on cover.
finally passed out on wednesday. no more lowest lifeform. no more climbing of stairs. here comes the one week off, the lift and the responsibilities to be burdened. the four months plus training has been arduous, inevitable and mandatory to convert us into ready troopers. here's the first assignment - NDP covers all the way till august 9th!
im having probs with this new keyboard. fill you guys in when i get a new one...
clubbing at liquidroom thereafter. seems like the crowd comes later den the usual time. cuz at 11 there still wasnt the usual throng of queue outside. that got the manager rather panicky - he came out calling people to queue up in order to get in. lol. anyway the crowd came after that. it was rather fun! but i havent got any mood to dance anyway. so it turned out not that pleasant afterall.
the italian answer to french penalty was a superbly taken corner by pirlo, met by the head of defender materazzi. what do we have to say about the solid goal - superb. it left barthez stranded in the air, trying the grasp the ball, and the defenders, helplessly looking.
still remember in my last entry, i asked for cloudy weather for my challenge relay. guess what? we've got more than what we asked for. it actually poured today, the second day of the challenge relay. looks like the prayers worked too well this time. but the relay was a success on the first day though. after all the recent postponing of events over the week, it was eventually decided on thursday and friday.
the long wait was supposedly to be over by noon today. welfare and everything must have clouded all our minds. some of us got caught using the lift today. got a rather harsh tekan session after lunch. some fainted, some cramps, some - old injuries got worst. i think it eventually serves its purpose la. had a talk with sergeants, i guess its all okay now. we've learnt we're still growing little chicks, not yet ready to fly. challenge relay part 2 will resume on tuesday, if the rain does not come again.
You Have a Melancholic Temperament
Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything.
You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life.
You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you.
Given enough time alone, it's easy for you to find inner peace.
You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life.
Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times.
At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you.
You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others.
You tend to over think small things, making decisions difficult.
SAF Day over. meaning life is going back to norm. the training's going to be tough, like the old days with the clearing-leave force sarge. by the way, four more days to POP! not really the parade, but official date should be 12 july. after the challenge relay, we will be able to enjoy limitless previlages, like taking the lifts, pulling down our curtains, bringing game consoles and television into camp. it also means more responsibilities to be taken on. please pray that team 1 wins the challenge relay! the one week off, and lots of vouchers to be shared among the ten of us..
we had our Exercise Patella on wednesday. if you dont know what it is, its like fighting in built-up area (FIBUA), or playing cs_estate in counter-strike. we called it casualty evacuation in built-up area (CEBUA). basically wearing mopp-4, armed with our m-16s, running around buildings, jumping through windows, climbing over walls, and extricating casualties in a chemical filled environment. that is what my vocation requires me to do, fyi.
top two teams of the world cup is already out. italy vs france. who will prevail? of course im with the azzuris. del piero's back on form, totti's back too. not forgetting luca toni, gilardino all out to break the french defence. grosso's someone to watch out, he has been lethal on the left, and creating several chances in the last two games for italy. not forgetting ac milan's solid midfield of gattuso and pirlo. third and fourth place going on tomorrow morning too. germans face euro 2004 runner-ups, portugal. i really hate these two teams, but i really hope the germans get something out of this game, because of the way they have been playing in the tournament so far. portuguese team is just a team of divers. fakes and lies. so, germany and italy, i predict win.
the final challenge relay, part one and two will take place on tuesday and wednesday respectively. deployment + extrication + casualty evacuation in the jungle sums up the programme. hopefully everything goes on well for me. i tend to faint in the suit somehow. the weather's not very helpful lately. please, be cloudy on those two days. thats all im asking of you..
You Are Sunshine
Soothing and calm
You are often held up by others as the ideal
But too much of you, and they'll get burned
You are best known for: your warmth
Your dominant state: connecting
