+great singapore sales part 2+

the great singapore sale is going on all over the island. be in the heat of grabbing, snatching, and fighting over the last piece of item going on sale. its crazy everywhere. this event happens annually from may to july. and it never fails to captivate me, how it gets everyone mad about queueing up over night, for a piece of limited item going on sale. the anxiety of not being able to attain it, so real, so sucky at the same time.

for many, its also a time to get little something for yourself after a year's hard work. buying something you like makes you more happy, somehow it does. maybe because of the endorphins it releases because you finally captured the things you always set your eyes on. the gleam on the face tells it all.

a few popular brand names i see having sales up to 70%. most of these cater to gals thou. sometimes i wished i was a girl, den i get to buy all these cheap cheap clothes at slashed prices. one brand i always loved -maybe because i've seen so many girls wearing it and looks good thou it looks simple and chic - would be mango. this spanish brand has been thriving in singapore, one store opening one after the other. i dont see other spanish co like zara opening as many. mango sale just crazy. practically everything that is nice is on discount. considering female clothes cheaper than male clothing, plus the added slashes, its gonna be a good bargain. fuck, why am i not a girl?! i know its feels unfair to all of us guys out here.

anyways, i got a few tees from flesh imp. a local brand i think is going to go quite far. with the amount from my purchase, we were somehow psycho-ed to buying more. so we shun bian got birthday presents for tw, means we met the req!uirement to sign up for the VIP card! the piggy's broken, and we couldnt bother about prices anymore. earlier on, joel got a tee from mambo too. after that edmund got one from mooks. pricey, but cool tees there. gotta check out that shop more often. but i dont see their items going on sale thou.

one more month to the end of this sale. get into the heat of things if you haven got anything! dont put all your money into world cup. its definitely stupid to throw money like that.

+coping with changes.+

tried shifting bunks within 2 hours? if that doesnt sound challenging, add in cleaning the whole place up, sweeping and wiping, till everything looks like stand-by condition. it wasnt the most arduous task assigned, but it sure is something really troublesome to do. we didnt wanted to change it in the first place, because we have'd so much fun in our previous arrangement, and everyone somehow got used to each other's flaws, sleeping habits, way of doing things et al.

i will always remember the chit-chat sessions after lunch. i will always remember the piling on 5-1 when someone celebrated their birthdays. i will always remember the light-off soul-to-soul, heart-to-heart talk with my bunk mates. i will always remember the jamming sessions; guitars, vocals all mixed into one. and of course, the friendship i've made.

however the worst i'd expected to happen someday has already begun. the segregation of one single platoon into 4 teams, electing a few leader within them. den, allowing the leaders to control their men however they wanted. i bet you know by now what i'm driving at. the incapable given the ranks, and the power to order; the average ones at the receiving end. to begin with, there wasnt an official election for the members. that explains the reason for so much conflicts going on, within and outside. many are already trying their utmost to get out of this problem, some still hanging on, some -like me- lost. POP day is three weeks away. time is short for us to solve this pressing issue. and hopefully, we will, really find a solution to it.

silent hill is crap. haven had a chance to play it. thought it was a horror at the beginning. in the end, turned out to be a gore and violence one. got me freaked out at times. kinda stupid spending my friday night and 10 bucks. fuck it.

+lazy week+

im so getting used to the lazy life in army, i think i might not be able to kick start my hardworking genes to work again. dont be mistaken, its not SLACK - lazy is the word. the SAF day parade personnel are training diligently everyday of the week, while the rest of us can only sit back in our bunks and give our moral support. sounds cool, we basically cant help them, because we didnt meet the height requirement.

and so the few beanpoles attended the annual medical corps family day on friday. the event was held in sentosa. it wasnt exciting because there wasnt any babes early in the morning. it wasnt exciting because there wasnt any games for us to play. it wasnt exciting because nobody told us what we were there for. i left the island two hours early with some friends to chill over at harbourfront.

went on a shopping spree on saturday. finally got to break my gss bank account. didnt get my tees, but got pants instead. i guess its not that bad lah. at least i got myself a little something, and im sure more stuffs will drop by in the weeks to come. went to change at tw's place before we went dancing, again. this time it was liquidroom. a new experience for me. no questions on whats the music was. but it was the same old story bout the scene in there. the next time anyone is interested in dancing, call me along!

+world cup rants+

how has the week been? mine has been rather slack, but entertaining at the same time. the allurement of the world cup is already sweeping the world by storm, who will miss out the action even in camp? although we do not have any cable back at our bunks, we definitely had fun tuning to the different frequencies to catch the once in 4 years event.

for a soccer freak like me, the players are the stuffs to look out for. at thie big stage, they start to strut their skills, charm, and watch how they gel together as a team, definitely something to catch. what beats watching soccer as a group, shouting GOOOOAL!, doing crazy things in camp. the phenomenon is overwhelming.

when it comes to watching soccer, who can resist the temptation of putting a few bucks in to predict who wins at the end of the game. sitting around the table discussing who wins, who wont, whats happening within the team, morale of the team, a bunch of guys can gossip all night long about football. well, i have not punted a cent since graduating from poly. hopefully it stays this way.

with three team already qualifying for the last 16, i think more nations will start to show their skills to grab this chance to shine. viva espana!

+a tribute to clubs+

a trip to the club has become more of a weekly thingy. problems in camp might be the main cause. maybe i find peace with myself there. im sure there are many who find dancing to the music rather relaxing too. i dun know about you. clubbing is a happy experience for most people, except for a few problems..

lately there has been a throng of teens from the other community visiting the night clubs. well its okay to have fun there, but dont smoke as if you got the last packet left, and gals too. im not commenting on how your religion teaches you the way you should be. you should realise not following what your teachings tries to preach is already wrong, dun go around spreading it to others.

the ratio of blokes to dames is always great than one. but how do you dance if the number is more than ten? i dun know why, but the influx of the males have seen females decrease by plenty. get the gals back before my heart dies out!

+666+movie+world cup+

i was going to blog on thursday night, but i was lazy. i tried on friday, but blogger was down. what the fuck, im blogging here now. hope blogger doesnt close down on me this time around.

four days in camp, but frankly, only 2 days of serious work. monday was store maintainence after the IISS event. dusty storeroom, air-conditioned, brrr, sneeze, flu. "666" day saw us got punished for displinary problems. playing along with our sarge with our punky attitude and crappy attire. looks like our platoon got lotsa stuffs to sort out before we POP. wednesday was ops flying eagle (OFE) home coming reception at air force museum. we were represented to welcome back the heroes of this operation. air force museum was this very nice place with so many real-life planes i couldnt help it but snap some pictures.










not till you experience yourself with the big crabs do you realise how strong singapore armed forces is. and so many gals signing on the army too to play their part for the nation. i think that is rather commedable for guys like me, where national service was mandatory. thursday was lobo day, the aftermath of OFE. the company was shifting bunks as we saw our juniors move up to the sacred level four. had a few good laughs whilst spring cleaning, i guess thats how friendship really blossoms. of course, there were a few differences to clear out between some of us, time will heal everything, eventually. book out timing screwed due to csm wanting stuffs to be cleared.

korean movies never fail to move my heart. this time it was almost love. i watched this korean show on friday with rard. this korean movie talks about two real childhood friends who turned from friends to lovers. expect a few good laughs from this typical korean movie. have a good laugh, think about it for a minute or two, and live life differently!

after the movie, went over to crash at rard's house. rick joined us for the world cup match. opening match between the host nation and costa rica saw goals after goals after goals. after that was a period of lull, which eventually ended up in me dozing off into my dreams. if you haven realise yet, WORLD CUP 2006 is ON!

+IISS+

its always great not doing anything in camp, but not on weekends. the international institute for strategic studies(IISS) dialogue was held in singapore for the first time from the 2nd -4th june. we were on standby for the past few days, and man, i must say im quite tired from basically slacking in bunk for the past three days. one of my platoon mates, shawn, says that from the past three days, he has seen the flaws and weaknesses of many of us. well, that may be true, but to me, its another chance to bond within ourselves i think.

confinement or time to solve our platoon internal conflicts? however you want to look at it, i think it couldnt have come at a more appropiate moment. another month or so before we finally pass out, i think its the best time to sort ourselves out and strive forward for more stuffs which might stand in our way. the new junior platoon has also been recruited; we gotta prove that we have what it takes to be their senior. sounds lame? dun worry i dun know what im trying to say either. im tired. cya again soon.
