the past week has been welcomed by the handing of some responsibilities and crappy duties in the midst. a short stint at the platoon ic saw me falling sick the next morning. lol. running away from showing leadership qualities or just simply the weather is too good to fall sick just like the rest of the guys in the company? a normal one compared to the previous few but i must say i have grown pretty tired of what we are going through. slack times are always there to give us the extra motivation whenever we feel real low during training and our sarge would always be there to make everything look better.
progressive training, as they imply, should start from something we can handle and slowly increasing to what we push ourselves to. our progressive training starting with our limits stretched, and accelerating by every round every day. its good training, but at the end of the day, you want to keep every single one at their best health, and still kicking at the end of the week. after remonstrating with our sarge, he still thinks the training is the best for us. of course, there's no point arguing, because at the end it, we always lose.
clubbing, something i have not done in 3 months. it was suddenly restored back to my life after jew suggested it. so it was, FLAVA night at phuture on friday. it wasnt much of a crowd in the beginning, but the chicks might have all touched down that night. maybe i haven got a woman's touch for too freaking long, they all seemed beautiful under the UV light. not to mention my first time i went clubbing ending up sleeping for almost an hour whilst the babes strode in while waiting for tw to arrive. LOL. now that sounds crazy.
posh dinner at My Secret Garden to celebrate py's 21st. the most stupid we did, took a cab from bugis junction to middle road, which was like a short 400m walk. not really my fault either, i got into the cab str after i met them, and didnt really know where this secretive restaurant was. the place was set behind these broken shophouses, simply decorated stones with trees lighting the area with a tint of asian mixed with european flavour. it was exceptionally romantic because rain was slowly drizzling down the evening, cooling off the place even though we were sitting on the outside of the restaurant. it also created these barriers between each table, making it feel like it was cosy and peaceful. the price of food was abit hiked for privates drawing less than half a thousand every 30 days, but i must comment on the food. it was delicious! sorry about the use of words there, delicious was the only thing i can think of now, i haven been updating my vocab library for weeks since coming to this new unit. you cant expect anything less for what you've paid, and trust me, you'll love everything there.
after dinner came the match chelski vs liverpudian. it was a meaningless match for me, i guess old trafford was wad attracted me most anyway. cant talk much about it because i slpt thru most parts of the game, except the goals, when my friends woke me up. went str to bed after i got home because my eyes were so dry and my head was spinning.

met up with the usual gang in town. all of us had our offs on that day, and so there, the reason why we met up. gathering people at one place at the same time was always difficult, and i had problems settling on the exact spot as planned. so it took about 2 hours for the full strength to be accounted for. window shopping for a bit with rard while waiting for tw.. and the hassles, or rather joy of shopping. was shortlisting stuffs for the GSS'06, which should hit town at the end of may. still a month or so away. everyone should start saving up now.
the art of seduction starring summer scent actress SON ye jin and actor SONG II guk was the movie we caught at night, also a chance to catch some rest after walking. the plot was kinky, witty, and if you feel this is not enough, it gives you so much joy while laughing at the both of them getting each other into all sorts of problems. not to mention SON's beauty and cutiness meshed up into one very special korean production. if you love korean girls already, be sure to catch daisy which releases on april 27, starring my sassy girl, Jeon ji hyun.
supposed to go over to celebrate jew's early birthday, but was too tired and eyes were becoming too dry for any early morning crazy acts. next week probably, more action packed fun.
couldnt really get to sleep. decided on midnight animes and switched on the tele for some sappy soap operas. guess what i found? the OC followed by one tree hill back to back! its back to watching the old episodes but it brought back so much memories of watching it back then during my polytechnic days in grandma's room when they used to telecast it at 10 and 11 pm respectively because of the clashing of timing with other shows my parents would avidly glue themselves to. now that she left, the television is also gone, and all of a sudden, everything seems so darn empty to me. i wonder how she's doing.
anyways, back to the tele bit. i wonder if there's a season 3 for both shows because i love them so much! probably there wouldnt be one because everyone is so busy with stuffs, but where am i gonna find another rachel bilson and mischa barton? you know the hassles of putting everyone together working again. not every drama could work out like FRIENDS. 10 seasons out finally they decided to stop because everyone has grown old already.
and if they keep makingnew drama shows and not make a sequel to the current few, i would be lagging behind these two years in camp. they always show these shows on weekday nights, and people like us tend to be dozzing off in our dreams already.. whatever it is, keep the drama spirit alive!
after the event, came the CO parade rehearsal. standing in the humid parade square listening to all sorts of commands. the actual parade commenced the next morning. an update of stuffs which was happening whilst dripping sweat all over. lol. army boys should understand the pain. encik had a talk with us, kinda boosted morale but we all know it wont happen anymore longer cuz he is leaving.
company outing in the later part of the day. seoul garden at marina. food, glorious food! so many hungry men packed into a tiny place. you can imagine how broke they became, and how much fun we had playing with the food we couldnt finish. platoon vs sarge. lol. not forgetting some final pictures before everyone parted ways. some of us went exploring parts of marina and suntec, and finally settling on pool and lan. it wasnt too bad, thou we havent done it for quite a long time.
how many more company outings are there? i do not know, but im sure there are many more events for us to earn many more stuffs during the course of our national service.
the deja vu thing so naturally flows back to us, making us think back on 24th feb, the day we passed out from our medic course. thats the day our present internals actually gave us a whacking on our very first day on level four - the sacred level where everything we did was so classified and secretive.
and so on this very day, the handing back ceremony was held. it was kinda informal, yet meaningful. the stand-in talked to us for half an hour or so, getting all sorts of feedback they ought to have, sharing their last bits of experiences, cracking a few final jokes before the new men came kicking in with their ever deadly faces.
"dont forget what i have taught you, though i wasnt that perfect being your sergeant, but i hope i've touched you in some ways or another. and i hope that if you have any problems during the course of your national service, i would be of any help to you. "
so very touching indeed. we were immediately thrown into action 5 minutes after that. all kinds of standby, together with the typical tekan session, short yet effective - making us realise that surrealism would never be a part of our training anymore. hell again for the rest of the next three months i guess..
