talking and slacking just chilling out on a saturday afternoon catching things up can be so pleasant too. the old after school times. the nostalgic feeling. plus the window-shopping in the hot weather.
had dinner with my family cuz the rest of the dudes had plans already. dad drove us to sembawang shopping centre. huh, where? dun ask me where. this is my maiden trip there too, though its kinda close to my camp. ate at taste of thailand on the top level. i dun know which level it is, 4 or 5 i think? the queue's long, and i still dun understand why there is such a huge crowd there. the food's just a-ok. above average only lah.
grocery shopping after that. kinda boring too. lotsa other families doing their shopping too. is it just me or is everyone else feeling the same thing as me? suddenly it feels like walking in malaysia, where the way of life is like that up there in the north. maybe its the feeling i have at that point in time, the feeling has long gone dead since den. queueing up to pay up was also a hassle. trucks of food and accessories to be scanned and accounted for before you can wheel them out of the store. what makes you more pissed are the cutting of queues. singaporean culture. it happens so often in civilian life. in camp too la, pple cut queue all the time, just not used to it.
april's like one week away. and pay should be arriving in two weeks' time. im barely holding on. by the way, im compiling my wishlist at the side of the page. its like everyone's doing it. g-star bag worth 275 bucks! love it so much. will someone get it for me as my 21st? gotta go prepare for a new week all over again. interesting things will definitely come by in the final week of march. see ya all in april!
you guys must be wondering, what am i blabbering about? the new basic medic course has just begun, and this time around, there is so much more medics this time round. a few familiar faces i've seen in the crowd of green, haven been able to go up to have a short catching up, but im sure the chance will come in the near future.
ther has also been a shuffle in the instructors' line-up too, some of the sarge haf received ORD plaques earlier on have moved on in life, while the other newer ones take on bigger responsibilities as the platoon instructor. we are all moving on in life, while the happy memories in p-026 will only serve as a beautiful footstep in our national service that we once been through. no amount of money will bring us back together once again. thats somehow the cruelty of life that we have to face.
during one of the get-together sessions we had, encik was telling us the other day that we were all second classed men given a second chance. the first cut would always be hand-picked to be enrolled in school of commanders, while the lucky ones gets to waste their time during their national service term. the other normal ones would turn into men, doing all sorts of shit, and taking the same amount of reward of the lucky few.
however, we get the opportunity of learning medical skills, which we might find useful when the need arises, and doing ops for real life situations. like the saying goes, "practice comes perfect.." when you treat every practice like a real ops, den everything would be smooth. even if you find doing it a breeze, you have to get the whole team to work together, seeing the ultimate goal as the end product, den you attain victory.
back to the topic, the hierarchy of men and everything of that sort only serves to tell me that you dont get chances like they used to come. the higher end group would always be on top; the lowly classes will ever be struggling to climb up, only to realise no matter how far they go, they'll eventually be kicked back to where they started from. talking about the reality of life.. yucks
no matter what happens, just live with the kind of life we're blessed with, and pray everything works well for us - even if it means getting kicked back to where we used to begin with. we must never stop escalating, keep on living our dreams, fighting off all critisms, obstacles, whichever comes ahead. just because we dont wan to start working doesnt mean the world would stop revolving. stay focus people, and hold on to life..
bastards usually start creeping out when you start to train together under harsh conditions. even plastics creep under stress, let alone men. internal conflicts are definitely inevitable at times like this. friends turn into foes, trust becomes betrayal, i've seen too much of this back in my school days as a student, but the same old value system comes into the military context as well. i shant talk too much about the stuffs which really piss me off sometimes, 18 more months before i eventually ORD, and these are the crappy individuals which will stay with me for the rest of the national service days.
