the air is so much fresher up there. the stuffs you see from above, just like toys. pretty much like those little houses and cars you would see at showrooms whenever you wanna check out some new flats. and the industries lining just at the outskirts of singapore, incredible. plus many more stuffs you get to see, like johor bahru, and some parts of bukit timah here and there, its just so amazing. i wan to be a pilot or something! but of course, i cant qualify because of my severe myopia. so next time if you people have the honour of getting a plane license, please invite me onto it for a day or so, or at least half a day.
how fortunate to be picked as one of the casualities to be heli-evacuated, and through this exercise do we really get to benefit something from our national service. what an irony i must say, though the operation wasnt quite of a success, and everything had to be cancelled due to bad weather. it was still quite a happy day for us, well for me at least.
we received our plague plaque for best platoon at the first MOC. the pioneer platoon to be engraved on the history of the school of military medicine. long live p-026, platoon 2. we took some final photos with our certs and plague with our sergeants who helped us a great deal during our course, some made deep impressions, through the strenous activities we had, some didnt really create any, but still, they are the ones to thank for this very special day. i'll remember every moment we had in the training sheds, especially during the much-feared IV sessions, all the freaked out faces, classic. we had our final lunch as a platoon together before packing our duffel bags.
we were immediately thrown into action at our new unit. the first thing we got from our new sarge? push-ups. the tekan session was more than just one which would instil disipline into our tired minds. we totally dreaded this kind of treatment on day one. but that really created a serious environment on a wet friday afternoon, which we thought was early book out day. many screw ups in between causing our book out to be late in the evening. you could see all the hungry tummies growling and tired bodies dragging out of camp. cab drivers must be so glad to see us waving our arms frantically trying to get back to our comfort zone as quickly as possible. the next two years of our national service is going to be dreadful definitely.
woke up rather early on saturday morning. did some shopping around bugis area with tw. girls are plentiful there today, probably because its the weekends? just stunned for awhile after returning to civilisation where the real crude world begins. bugis village has changed so much since the last time i visited that place about 6 months ago since working ard that area before i got enlisted.
joined up with some of my poly dudes for a movie, final destination 3. the third sequel to the first two came 3 years after the last one came out. wad a long wait. i must say it has gone more gorry, the way they die involves so much more bloody this time. must haf caused some indigestion somewhere there after a heavy meal. had some chit-chat time at galileo friends at level 5. not a very great shop, the plus point has got to be free airing of espn channels!
by the way, i've got one whole week of block leave! forced into taking them and now i've got a chance to see FORT MINOR LIVE at the indoor stadium on wednesday! who wants to join me?! interested please call or text or msn me as soon as you see this! and i wanna see how crappy the pink panther is. so again, those people willing to give this pathetic soul company.. you know where to get me. till den, have a great week.
we constructed our very first BCS(battlion casualty station) on monday and managed to get a successful deployment on tuesday. its tiring but its definitely worth the effort. it builds team spirit, and management of your fellow mates. our team got the ball rolling early in the morning, and got to complete the entire BCS in under an hour. quite a feat for first timers, our sarge commented.
in the end, we fought thru different taunts and got two free drinks for winning bets in the process. LOL. dont mess with platoon 2.
we had the first MOC on wednesday. different stations, different stuffs to do. our CO was there to grace the event, and im sure the spirits of the company was at its peak. the four platoon pitting against each other at the lush green field. after the first round, we were trailing 30 points at second spot. the second round wasnt very pleasant for us. soon after 2 hours, the results were out. platoon 2 won. yes we won without knowing why we won. we got ourselves nights off all the way till the end of the course.
im so broke i think i need to rethink about my expenses. the future is so bleak im living a day at a time. what am i gonna do after national service? no, im not going to sign on. getting a place at a local university? that sounds decently expensive too. i desperately need cash..
looking back at week 9 of the combat medic course, i guess life is getting much more lively as compared to the past 8 weeks. the morale hasnt been exceptionally high, but knowning POP is within our fingers, we couldnt be more psyched. the whole week we were tied down with exams, and more exams. life of a medic surely isnt as easy as "yes sir, yes sir" it involves planning and saving a life; scribbling frantically the names of medicine in the exam hall, not running 1-clik and dismanting a weapon. at the end of the day, we get so much brighter than what a bulb can provide.
valentine's day passed just a few days ago. fortunately, i would say that i was lucky to be in camp spending my lonely night there instead of stoning at home spending the horrid few hours in civilian life. the joy of having another soul who listens i will never understand, until i find one to call my own. 21 years of feb 14 passed me, hopefully the 22nd would be a pleasant one with someone to hold on to.
we are down to the final week. the final 5 days of the course. we know we would pass out as qualified medics proud to save a life of our brothers in the SAF. for some of us, we would still stay in the same camp training to deal with chemical threats and stuffs like that which is meant to be classified and top secret. lol. see you guys in 7 days time.
turning from strangers to man to brothers.
the week probably was one of the longest we have ever endured since we were posted here at the medical school. 5 days packed with interesting activities, including the vocation selection test during the course of the week. it seems like we're gonna be stuck together till we ORD. and of course more needles to satisfy our itch, some of us even come begging for more. we're really looking forward to every saddist poking sessions even men freak out, upon the sight of the size of a yakult straw. its amazing how we've grown to endure the pain over the short period. maybe we've really matured in our thinking. we cannot change the fact that we're medics, and we'll take this skill with us even till we die.
i have been looking for some material to ponder upon amidst all the mugging during the lengthy admin time we have in the evenings. i think im turning really retarded not reading some books. its what army does to you because you follow the same old rules every single day. so if you have any interesting read please feel free to share it with me.
feb 10 was hongyuan's birthday. happy 21st hy! there were so many others having their birthday parties at costa sands on saturday too.. its always great to see so many friends gather at your birthday party. how long more will it last? as they say, "when you grow older, you get more candles on your cake, but less friends blowing it out for you." think about life. think about you.
like i always say, good times never last. i have just got used to life at smm, and soon we will be ending our course. a bunk of jokers, always lifting the spirits of the platoon, hopefully friends for life. happy days dun always come, we quarrel abit sometimes, we have our indifference at times, thats inevitable. rumours has it that our platoon will be the platoon for medical responsive. means we're gonna see each other for the rest of our national service term, till we ORD! i dont know if this is good.. we'll see about it as the time draws nearer
anyways, back to civilisation, shopping and chilling out is always great. having the company of a few good buddies is suffice sometimes. today's movie was fun with dick and jane. not a very well made movie i must say, the storyline is pretty crappy i must say. besides pulling a few jokes here and there, it wasnt much of a surprise what was coming. i guess the trailer gave too much of itself away there. and there was a couple laughing at whatever they deemed funny. i think it was a chinese couple. please, if you wanna date your girl and laugh at every damn thing, go get your own room.
oh its already sunday. happy 21st gerrard. one of the first few pals i have in poly. i must say i really enjoyed the company, and many other jokes we shared throughout our poly days. the jokes we had in the foodcourt, the lectures and playing soccer on sunday afternoons. not forgetting fresh dessert at the market and eventually WE before going home feeling elated. and also one of the first to up rank to full-fledged adult. ha. enjoy r21 movies for 3 months first before my turn eventually arrives. have fun dude in india with your medical cover.
